At Trehayne Construction we love working with homeowners across East Suffolk to renovate and improve older houses while maintaining the features that make them special and irreplaceable. Whether you are restoring a traditional cottage, updating a farmhouse, or improving a period town house, we will carry out the work in a way that feels sympathetic to the original building. Talk to us about lime mortar, traditional materials, linseed paint and letting houses breathe, we aren't your usual builders who don't understand your old building. As a side note our director lives in a 17th century farmhouse.

Many homes in Suffolk were built using traditional materials and techniques that behave differently from modern construction. Walls may be solid brick, flint, or timber frame, and older properties often contain features such as exposed beams, irregular structures, and historic alterations.
Renovation work therefore requires careful preparation and a practical understanding of how these buildings were originally constructed. By taking the time to assess the property properly, it is possible to plan renovation work that improves the building while preserving its character.

One of the most rewarding parts of renovating an older property is revealing and restoring original features that may have been hidden over time. You cannot describe the satisfaction of uncovering beams that have been hidden for decades and bringing them to life!
This can include exposed timber beams, original brickwork, or structural elements that form part of the building’s history. Where appropriate, we can carefully clean and restore timber beams or floorboards using a variety of techniques to remove layers of old paint, stain, or dirt. This process can reveal the natural texture of the timber and help bring traditional features back to life.
We are only a small team so the best way to get in touch is to send a Whatsapp or text message any time and we will get back to you as fast as possible.
We mainly cover the East Suffolk area including Lowestoft, Beccles, Halesworth, Southwold and Wrentham.
